Connecticut Death Records Search


Record keeping of marriages, birth and death were the prime responsibility of town clerk since 1650,  the State Board of Health was established on 1870, and after this period all the record of death were properly maintained by the State. In July, 1897 this record was sent to State Department of Health.

To obtain a death certificate in the State of Connecticut a concise request on simple paper along with the information like Date of request, Full name of the deceased, Date of Birth, Date of Death, Place of death, gender of the deceased, relationship with the deceased, Reason for obtaining death certificate, applicant’s name and address, applicant’s driving license number (some county of the Connecticut also requires state number) and applicant signatures on the application may be forwarded to State Department of Health.

For the administrative purpose and smooth process for search, the information may be provided such as descendant’s social security number, occupation, business, race and educational level in addition if asked by the human investigation committee of the State Department of Health.

death certificate may order in person by a pre pay check in favor of “Treasurer, State of Connecticut” subject to all other code formalities completed. The officially prescribed fee for the death certificate is $10 if the record found in the first year, and if not found $2 will be charged for the each next year record search.
