Alaska Death Records


The Department of Health and Social Services, Bureau of Vital Statistics, the state of ALASKA is officially organized body to maintain and issuing the record of death, birth and marriages and the task is being performed since 1913.  Death record consists of the information like name of the deceased, date of death, place of death, and mother or father name of deceased.

For genealogical research, death record is used as primary data, because the information in the death certificate is recorded by the eyewitness at the time of death take place.

To obtain the death certificate of Alaska, the wife, child or siblings of the deceased may apply by proper filling a prescribed form issued by the Bureau of Vital Statistics. The request of the death certificate must be accompanied with a Government issued picture id of the applicant.

Signature of the applicant is also the formality of the form.

The death certificate record must be issued of those whose death occurred within the state of Alaska. Application process takes approximately 2-3 weeks by the by the Bureau of Vital Statistics to issue the death certificate.

Each copy of death certificate may be obtained from the Bureau of Vital Statistics, state of Alaska at $ 20. This rate is applicable if the death record found within the 3 years search data. If the record not found in 3 years database, further search will be charged $1 per year search. The payments by cross Cheques, if found Not Sufficient Fund will bear a penalty of $ 30.
